Blending operatic vocals with hip hop, gospel, and spoken word, it tells the story of Hampton “Ham” Ellis—a reluctant heir to a violent empire—who must choose between justice and vengeance after his father’s murder.
Set in present-day New Orleans, the piece merges theatrical storytelling with the emotional power of music. Scenes alternate between grounded dramatic dialogue and stylized operatic cutaways, where characters express their inner turmoil in powerful solo and choral performances.
The show’s music blends classical opera with contemporary rhythms: trap beats under tenor lines, gospel harmonies carrying grief, and spoken word verses woven into orchestral motifs.
